Built in the 1950’s, the Yankee Clipper Hotel (now the B Ocean Resort) is an interesting attraction by itself — located right on Ft. Lauderdale Beach, as it is shaped to resemble a large ship.
Inside, you will find the Wreck Bar, an oasis of retro-nautical decor resembling the interior of a ship wrecked Spanish Galleon, complete with aquariums and briny decor throughout. There is also an extra bonus- large portholes that look into the hotel’s pool from behind the bar. Shows took place at the bar back in 1956 – 1965. MeduSirena revived these shows in 2006 in an effort to preserve the bar and the art of Golden Age variety, lounge, and figure swim shows. 10 years later- the happy hour & swim shows are still going strong- currently Friday and Saturday evenings 5:30 PM (Shows at 6:30), where you can watch Marina and her “Pod”of “Aquaticats” swim past the portholes in the ‘MeduSirena Swimshow’, offering patrons a view of a more unusual Florida aquatic attraction. Unique venues such as the Wreck Bar are dwindling in number- please support this Ft. Lauderdale treasure!
